LO63877: CANNOT OPEN ICS FILE FROM THE OPERATING SYSTEM USING THE BASIC 8.5.2 CLIENT

Error description

  • If you are using the Notes 8.5.2 Basic client and then double
    click on a
    iCalendar file (*.ics) at the Operating System level such as in
    Windows
    Explorer , you receive the following error dialog
    This only happens with the Notes Basic client .
    
    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Launch the Notes Basic client via nlnotes.exe
    2. Save the ics file attached to the Operating System (Windows
    Explorer)
    3. Double click on the ics file and you will receive the error
    dialog in Notes
    "Invalid directory name or device not ready"
    
    This was raised in SPR # SPES7UEM3G  and was closed as a
    duplicate of SPR #
    BWWG7TWV55 which is supposed to be fixed in 8.5.1

  • Use the Standard client but not always possible for some users
