Error description
After opening my mail file, the search bar is frequently missing above the views. In 8.5.2 this UI element was preserved between session of Notes and sessions of having my mail file open. More info (YHN 2/8/11) I had the same issue as Harry to start with. But after opening the mail in Basic mode inside standard client, the issue was gone and Notes behaved as expected. I restarted Notes Basic client by nlnotes.exe and closed the search bar. Restarted Standard mode, and there is no search bar as expected. Views - Search this view, and got the bar up. Close just mail app, and reopen the mail app. Bar is now gone, and it is not preserved.

Select the menu open View > Search this View to restore display of the search bar
