    1. Confirm that the "Do not automatically add names to the
    Recent
Contacts view" preference is NOT enabled in the "Contacts" tab
    of the
Preferencesdialog. NOTE: This must be done before exiting
    Notes.
Make sure that Recent Contacts is enabled and working. Make
    sure there
are also some unread messages in the user's mail db.

    2. Shut down the Notes client.

    3. Make a backup copy of the current names.nsf to a directory
    outside of
the user's Lotus Notes data directory (which is located
    C:\Program
    Files\IBM\Lotus\Note\Data by default).

    4. Delete the files in the <Notes Data
    Directory>\workspace\.metadata\.plugins\com.ibm.notes.dip\direct
    ory
with the client shut down (where <Notes Data Directory> is
    the path
to your Notes data directory). Sample file names:
        dipTable.ser
        dipTable.ser1186420108375

    5. Launch Notes, open mail and open several unread mail
    documents. It
is at this point the associated views are reset. Per the
    caveats listed
    in technote #1265985, the previous
    contents
of the Recent Contacts list may display until a new message is
    sent.
You must send a mail message to ensure the reset is complete.
    This is
very important and I think this is what you have been missing.

    6. Confirm the recent contacts list is cleared out. There may
    be a few
names in the Recent Contacts because of the previous step. If
    there
are, simply highlight them and select the trash can icon to
    delete them.
Then empty the trash. Once we have the Recent Contacts cleared
    out, now
we can enable the preference "Do not automatically add names to
    the
Recent Contacts view" preference in the "Contacts" tab. This
    will
disable the feature. Another method for disabling the Recent
    Contacts
feature, is to add the parameter "DisableDPABProcessing=1" to
    the local
    Notes.ini.

    7. You must now restart Notes. Restart and ensure that the
    roaming
files replicate back to the server, replicating the emptied
    Recent
    Contacts view.

    8. To verify that Recent Contacts is no longer populating, open
    the mail
database, open some unread messages, and send some new messages.

While working in the mail db for about a half hour, sending and
receiving mail, and opening new documents, the Recent contacts
view gets repopulated in the Contacts database.

After further testing, and checking the customer roaming PNAB in
Notespeek, there are two preferences in the RoamingUserID
    profile:

    $PrefDisableDPABprocessing=1, which is correct

    however,
$PrefDisableDPABCCprocessing=0, which means any CC field entries
will still get added to recent contacts.

It seems the recent contacts are getting repopulated from the CC
    Fields of memos.

Local fix

  • Run agent to set $PrefDisableDPABCCprocessing=1 in the roaming
    PNAB RoamingUserID profile.
