Error description

  • In Notes 8, Type-Ahead only seems to work with names that are in
    the Local
Address Book. It does not find users in the Domino Directory.
    If you press
F9, Enter, or a Comma, then the name is resolved, however the
    drop-down list
does not work with names in the Domino Directory.

NOTE: It may appear to work with names in the Domino Directory.
     However, this
is due to the name most likely being found in the Recent
    Contacts list.

    1) Launch an R8 Client and Server with several test users.
    2) Make sure none of the test users are in the Local Address
    Book (including
    the Recent Contacts list).
    3) In the Location Document for this particular Test User, under
    "Recipient
name type-ahead:" set it to "Local then Server" and "Activiate
    Recipient Name
Type-Ahead:" can be set to either "On Each Character" or "On
    Delimiter"
    4) Compose a new memo and start typing another user's (or even
    the Test User's)
name in the To: field. Type ahead does not bring down the
    drop-down list.

For Step 5, you may choose either step - do not do both.

5a) Either press F9, Enter, or enter in a Comma, and the name is
    resolved. Now
send this Test message and this user's name is now in the Recent
    Contact List.
Compose a New Memo again and start typing this user's name in
    and the
drop-down list will show this user's name now. Or...
5b) Close out of the New Memo and Discard without Saving. Now
    open the Test
User's Local Address Book and add a user and save them.
    6) Create a New Memo and start typing the name of the newly
    added user and the
drop-down list will show this user's name now.

Local fix

  • Workaround 1:

Customer stated that they changed the "Home/mail Server:" under
    the "Servers"
tab in the Location document to the user's Mail server and the
    issue was now
resolved. However, testing on three separate machines in three
    separate
environments showed that this issue still occurs regardless.

    Workaround 2:

Add the names of the users that you would like to use type-ahead
    for into your
    Local Address Book.
