Error description

  • The Lotus Notes 8.5 Help database for the Title "Removing
meeting invitations from your Inbox" has incorrect information:

    The help file states:
"Removing meeting invitations from your Inbox"

You can have IBMᄅ Lotus Notesᄅ remove meeting invitations from
    your Inbox automatically.
You can set your calendar preferences to automatically remove
meeting invitations from your Inbox after you respond to them.
    1. Click File > Preferences, click Calendar and To Do, and
    then click Display.
    2. Click Notices.
    3. In the Display the following meeting notices in my Inbox
field, select either All or All except responses.
    4. Select Remove meeting notices from my Inbox after I process
    them.
    5. Click OK.

Note: If you delete a meeting invitation from your Inbox rather
than respond to it, Notesᄅ sends a decline notice to the meeting
    chair.

The section that is INCORRECT is:
Note: If you delete a meeting invitation from your Inbox rather
than respond to it, Notesᄅ sends a decline notice to the meeting
    chair.

I have reproduced this issue in 7.0.4 and 8.5.1FP1 Notes
    Standard Clients.

If you delete a meeting invite from your inbox without
responding the chairperson does NOT receive a decline notice.
This is either a BUG and or the documentation is incorrect.

Local fix

  • Workaround: Open the meeting and Decline the meeting. This will
then send a Decline notice to the chairperson.
