LO49821: NOTES SHARED LOGON: USER IS ASKED WINDOWS PASSWORD EVEN THOUGH USER DOESN'T HAVE WINDOWS PASSWORD

APAR status

• Closed as Permanent restriction.

Error description

• A user doesn't have windows password, user can logon to windows
  with no
  password.
  And set Notes Shared Logon by selecting "Log in to Notes using
  your operating
  system login" in the User Security. User can launch Notes Client
  without
  entering password.
  
  But, if user open [File]-[Security]-[User Security] or logoff
  Notes Client by
  pushing [Ctrl]+[F5] key, prompt for asking windows password is
  displayed and
  user can't logon to Notes Client.
  
  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Create an account with no password on Windows
  2. Logon with the no password account to Windows
  3. Launch Notes Client
  4. Open [File]-[Security]-[User Security]
  5. Set "Log in to Notes using your operating system login"
  6. Exit Notes Client and Reboot Windows
  7. Logon with the no password account to Windows again
  8. Launch Notes Client  ----> User can launch Notes Client
  without entering
  Notes password
  
  9a. Open  [File]-[Security]-[User Security]
  9b. Push [Ctrl+[F5] key, logoff Notes Client, and Click Notes
  Client again
  
  10. Windows Password prompt is displayed  <---- this is the
  problem
  11. Click [OK] without entering windows password (because this
  user has no
  password), Invalid password error from Lotus Notes is displayed.
  User can't
  logon to Notes Client never.
  
  When windows user account has no password and Notes Shared Logon
  is enabled,
  user can't never access [User Security].
  
  
  Debug_NSL=1 shows the following error
  ------------------
  2010/03/16 18:34:54   CheckWindowsPassword:  LogonUserW() failed
  with error 1327
  2010/03/16 18:34:55   DESKManageWindowsCreds:  Check of user's
  Windows password
  failed. Delaying next Windows password prompt.
