This was reproduced on Notes 8.5.1 GOLD. It cannot be reproduce
in Notes 8.5.0,
even with the same mail file.

See the mail DB in the attachment DB.
Double-click the attachment in the sample message.

"Server error: this database cannot be read due to an invalid on
disk structure"

The attachment does not open. Document Properties shows the
$File field is 0
bytes.
However, if you view the same message in a Notes 8.5.0 client,
the attachment
opens and $File is about 32 KB.

Local fix

  • Use Notes 850 to save the attachment.
