Error description
Create a new To Do with 'Due by' and 'Start by' date today. Next day the status is not 'Overdue' as expected, it is 'In Progress'. STANDARD client: BASIC client: When you open the To Do the status is also wrong: Only when you close the To Do with 'Save and Close' the status would change to the correct one 'Overdue'. When you close the To Do without saving, the status would not change. In 'More -> Preferences' the options 'Display To Do entries' and 'Display overdue To Do items on the current day' are enabled. The same issue occur when these options are disabled. I think the value of the field 'DueState' is only changed if the To Do is saved. The value '1' indicates the status 'In Progress', the value '0' indicates 'Overdue'.
Local fix
Try using the R5 'By Due Date' view but this is still not ideal as the same repeat ToDo as above shows as 'Continued'
