LO43569: CALENDAR ALARM - EMAIL NOTIFICATION WILL NOT WORK IF USER'S MAIL DATABASE IS NOT OPEN.

Error description

• Calendar alarm email notification will not work if user's mail
  database is not
  open.
  
  Domino 8.5, 8.02 win 32
  
  Steps to reproduce:
  User1 creates a calendar meeting.
  He sets the Notify me alarm to be notified 15 minutes before and
  enables
  notification to send mail to User2.
  User 1 is out of the office and his Notes Client is shutdown.
  User 2 does not get the calendar alarm email notification.
  Did second test with user 1 logged in at the time of alarm then
  user 1 receives
  alarm notification email.
  
  Developer's comments :
  General Comments: There are currently NO plans to change the
  alarm code to be a
  server task and have it run on the server so that the client is
  not required to
  be running in order to send an EMAIL for an alarm. We had
  explored that option
  when we designed the alarm daemon on the client, but felt that
  it would put a
  lot of load on the server. As there are no plans to re-visit
  this issue again,
  I would like to close this as No plans ever.

Local fix

• There are no simple workarounds.  If you need someone to attend
  these meetings
  then
  1. Add them to the Meeting as Optional / CC and it will appear
  on their calendar
  2. Keep your mail database open on your Notes client while you
  are away and
  alarms will fire.
