Error description
Customer is experience the following errors when opening mail in an archive file that is still based on the R6 design: "Type mismatch on external name: UIMEMODOCUMENT" and "Variant does not contain an object" error messages accessing archive. STEPS: -Using a Notes 8 client -Create a mail file using the mail6.ntf template -Create a local archive database and archive one message -Convert the mail db with the new template mail8.ntf -Archive another message. -Open the archive file still based on the Mail6.ntf and/or an archived message and get multiple errors. TROUBLESHOOTING: L2 has tested and reproduced. Found SPR YDEN7C2M55 which reports the same issue. L3 provided a hotfix, L2 tested and confirmed the hotfix does not address the fully address the issue. The error received when opening the database is resolved but you still receive errors when opening/closing documents within the database. I tested the following for L3: I tested * Standard hotfix 801HHF27 to no avail I tested * Basic hotfix 801HF270 to no avail. I don't get an error opening the database but I do when opening/closing any documents in the database. I only have access to the basic configuration of 8.0.2 beta. I tested with that and confirmed it is still not addressed. Errors are received opening/closing documents in the archive database but not when opening the database. L3 has requested this SPR be opened for the errors received when opening/closing the documents in the same archive database. L3 states the results of the hotfix is a different issue than what is reported in SPR YDEN7C2M55 and that the hotfix for that SPR addresses the reported issue. Please note the problem description of that other SPR does state this is an issue with opening/closing documents: "they try to acess a document in the archive they receive the error message "Type mismatch on external name: UIMEMODOCUMENT" then "Variant does not contain an object". Then they close the document they also receive the error "Variant does not contain an object" again.".
Local fix
Doing a manual replace design with the mail8.ntf template on the archive the errors no longer appear. However this is not an acceptable workaround for most customers as most end users have only Editor rights to their archive file which is the default access. If their archive files are local which in most cases they are this would require manual intervention from an Admin.
