Error description

  • ISSUE
Memory leak in IE 6/7 when using the "Timed Action" builder

    SYMPTOMS

Upon creation and deployment of a model by using "Timed Action"
builder, and subsequent rendering of the a web page displaying
that model in a browser, an IE browser generates a memory leak
on the machine the browser is running on.

Note the problem is recreatable using the model provided from:

    http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/pfwiki.nsf/dx/ibm-using-ajax-techniq
    ues

When using the "TimedAction_DynamicChart.model" (from the AJAX
samples), on the browser machine, memory seems to leak (about
every second, 100-300kbytes of memory goes away when observing
the Windows "Task Manager", "Performance" tab's "Physical
    Memory"
    value.

This occurs in IE 6/7, but does not occur in Firefox (other
browsers were not tested for this phenomena)

Again, the memory leak occurs on the client/browser machine.

    ENVIRONMENT
Server: WAS CE 1, or WAS 6.0.*
    Client: IE 6 or 7
    .
    RECREATION:
From a browser on a machine other than the machine the server
is on, execute the model. Using Windows "Task Manager"
"Performance", you can observer the "Physical Memory"
"Available" value, and can see it decrement at approximately
    200-300Kbytes per second.

Local fix

  • The only workaround is to use different browser, which the
customer does not wish to do.
