Error description

  • process to disable the developer portal site module.

    Log into above site as admin.

    Go to 'Extend > Disable Module'.

    Select the 'Active Directory Integration / LDAP Integration -
    NTLM & Kerberos Login' module check-box, and click the 'Disable'
    button (bottom of page).

    On the 'Confirm disable' page, click the 'Disable' button once
    again.

    This will open a pop-up window asking for feedback information
    window with the option to either enter a feedback response or
    skip feedback; either the enter feedback or the skip option can
    be selected (the same following error results either way):

    The feedback pop-up window will hang for a period of time before
    returning a '504 Gateway Time-out' error.

    In the web logs I see:

    [     nginx stderr]  [error] 1528323#1528323: *113840 upstream
    timed out (110: Connection timed out) while reading response
    header from upstream, client: IP , server: portal-www.test,
    request: "GET /smoke-test/sandbox/feedback?miniorange_feedback_
    email=email&deactivate_plugin=Other+reasons%3A+&form_token=toke
    nID&form_id=system_modules_uninstall_confirm_form&query_feedbac
    k=Recreating+&miniorange_feedback_skip=Skip&confirm=1&form_buil
    d_id=form-XSNoOCtXUIfT4sbKiKAe6Hf1Sd14uuuYN3MiHWXwwh4&form_toke
    n=tokenid&form_id=system_modules_uninstall_confirm_form&op=Disa
    bleHTTP/1.1", upstream:
    "fastcgi://unix:/var/run/pid/php7.4-fpm.sock", host:
    "portal-www.test", referrer: "https://portal-www.test/smoke-tes
    t/sandbox/admin/modules/uninstall/confirm"

    which is indicating that the PHP call to disable the module has
    taken longer than the web server is willing to wait.

Local fix

  • use the CLI to disable the module

Problem summary

  • Certain operations in the developer portal GUI, particularly
    enabling/disabling a module could take a long time and lead to
    timeouts.

Problem conclusion

  • An extra layer of in-memory cache has been added to help the
    peformance of log running tasks. This was introduced in 10.0.5.6
    and 10.0.7.0

Temporary fix
