Error description

  • The catalog import operation may fail when there are errors in
    the uploaded file.  The summary report does not show the details
    about the problem but instead provides an instruction to examine
    the error log file.  However, access to the error log file is
    restricted to IT staff, making the problem determination task
    more difficult and time consuming.

Problem summary

  • USERS AFFECTED:
    All WC v7.0 Feature Pack 1 and later users who leverage the
    catalog upload facility.
    
    PROBLEM ABSTRACT:
    The catalog import summary report does not show the details of
    the error if the catalog import fails.
    
    BUSINESS IMPACT:
    Ease of problem identification for CMC users uploading data via
    catalog import
    
    RECOMMENDATION:
    

Problem conclusion

  • The iFix provides an option to allow the catalog import summary
    report to show the details of the errors at the top of the
    summary report, one line per error.
    
    To enable this option, the customer needs to customize the
    catalog upload tool to add some extra configuration. The
    customer needs to create a custom wc-dataload-.xml file in the
    custom directory:
    <WC_EAR>/xml/config/com.ibm.commerce.catalog-ext/dataload
    with the following sample configuration:
