Error description

  • DB2 SQL Query Optimizer has improved the performance of the join
    operation for incremental maintenance of a materialized query
    table (MQT)  when all of the following conditions are satisfied:
    (1) it is a partitioned (DPF) environment
    (2) the SQL statement being compiled contains more than one
    modifying operation (i.e. INSERT/UPDATE/DELETE) on the base
    tables of an MQT (call it S1)
    (3) S1 is a refresh immediate MQT
    (4) a. S1 is a replicated MQT OR
          b. S1 is an MQT with no group-by expression OR
          c. S1 is an MQT with group-by expression but none of the
    group-by columns is updated by the SQL statement
    Example:  Assuming a DPF environment, and base table (base1) has
    immediate MQT (S1) that satisfies conditions (3) and (4) above,
    here is an example of the SQL statement mentioned in condition
    (2):
    begin atomic
          insert into base1 values (1,1);--
          update base1 set i2 = i2 + 1;--
    end;
