Error description

  • In an LDAP enabled environment, CONNECT to a database fails with
SQL1096N when it was run from a remote client, or SQL1031N when
it was run from a local client.

SQL1096N means "The command is not valid for this node type.",
while SQL1031N means "The database directory cannot be found on
    the indicated file system."

More specifically, if DB2LDAPCACHE is set to NO, CONNECT always
fails. If it is set to YES, only the first CONNECT attempt will
fail, while the subsequent CONNECT from the same client will
    succeed.

This problem is a regression and occurs only on DB2 Version 8.2
    FP15 and 16, and DB2 Version 9.1 FP4 and 4a. In DB2 version
9.5, the problem was introduced in FP1. The problem is (or will
be) fixed in FP17 of Version 8, FP5 of Version 9.1, and FP2 of
    Version 9.5.

Note that LDAP here refers to LDAP directory service, and not
the authentication feature using an LDAP plugin.
