Error description

  • SIGSEGV (signal # 11) in function sqlpgole when using
asynchronous log reader to retrieve a log file. To identify if
your db2 server is hitting this APAR, you will get a trap file
with the following stack (Note that on linux x86/AMD 64 bit, you
may get a stack with unresolved symbols with no real function
names. In this case you can contact IBM to format the stack and
verify if you have the same stack):
    .
    sqloEDUCodeTrapHandler
    sqlpgole
    sqlpALR_OpenExtent
    sqlpALR_ExtentFromLSN
    sqlpALR_ReadPagesDisk
    sqlpALR_LoadReadBuffer
    sqlp_AsyncLogReadAPI
    sqlpReadLogInternalAPI
    sqlpReadLogDRDA
    sqlerKnownProcedure
    sqlerCallDL
    sqljs_ddm_excsqlstt
    sqljsParseRdbAccessed
    sqljsParse

    >>>>> SKIP <<<<<
    .
The following three conditions must met for your db2 server to
    hit this APAR:
    .
    1. The active log path is a raw device.
    2. The database config parameter OVERFLOWLOGPATH is NULL or
empty (no value specified beside the parameter).
    3. The application is using asynchronous log reader to retrieve
a log file. Note the Q Capture program and Q replication use
       the asynchronous log reader.

If you see the above stack and if your db2 server meet these
three conditions than you are hitting this APAR.

Local fix

  • The two most obvious workarounds are to break one or both of the
conditions specified in the error description section of this
    APAR.

    1. Change your active log path from a raw device to a
       filesystem.
    2. Specify an overflow logpath in the database configuration
       parameter OVERFLOWLOGPATH.
