Closed as program error.
Error description
The db2setup does not recognize default LANG setting "ja_JP.UTF-8" on Linux systems like Suse 9 and runs in English only. Also the db2setup's language cannot be overriden using -i option like "db2setup -i JP" either.
Local fix
Change the environment variable LANG to ja_JP.utf8 and then run the db2setup: export LANG=ja_JP.utf8 db2setup
Problem summary
USERS AFFECTED: Users running db2setup on a Linux system with Japanese language setting. PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The db2setup does not recognize default LANG setting "ja_JP.UTF-8" on Linux systems like Suse 9 and runs in English only. Also the db2setup's language cannot be overriden using -i option like "db2setup -i JP" either. PROBLEM SUMMARY: The fix delivered in this APAR corrects the detection of the language setting. It applies to running the db2setup w/o -i option.
Problem conclusion
First fixed in DB2 UDB Version 9, FixPak 2 (s070210).
