Error description
Issuing a RUNSTATS WITH DISTRIBUTION statement against a table, followed by an ALTER TABLE ALTER COLUMN SET DEFAULT statement can cause a table to contain corrupt packed descriptor information. The corruption relates to column distribution statistics and can be rectified by issuing the RUNSTATS WITH DISTRIBUTION statement again. Accessing the table might result in traps, or modified access plans which can lead to performance degradation.
Local fix
Please contact DB2 support to confirm if tables have been affected specifically by this issue. Once confirmed, re-running RUNSTATs on the table after running the ALTER command(s) should fix the corruption.
Problem summary
