Error description

  • Unable to create new IDR CDC instance in command line. It
    impacts IDR CDC for Kafka and CDC for DataStage.
    
    When you run dmconfigurets, you see the following:
    
    Creating a new instance. Please wait...
    
    Cannot create changes:null
    Would you like to abort instance creation (y/n) [n]:`
    
    The dmconfigurets log shows a Null Pointer Exception:

Local fix

  • Install an older version (11.4.0.3-5594 or older) and upgrade.

Problem conclusion

  • Upgrading to IDR 11.4.0.4-5599 or newer for Datastage or Kafka
    resolves the issue.
