Error description

  • When you refresh a subscription that is configured to use
    KcopSingleRowAvroAuditHeadersIntegrated, quotation marks appear
    in the fields A_ENTTYP, A_CCID and A_TIMSTAMP instead of a 0 or
    a null.

    Your schema registry may return the following error:

    Failed to execute goal
    org.apache.avro:avro-maven-plugin:1.10.2:schema

    (default) on project consumer-avro-sasl-ssl: Execution default
    of goal

    org.apache.avro:avro-maven-plugin:1.10.2:schema failed: Invalid
    default

    for field A_ENTTYP: "\"\"" not a ["null","string"]

    * This issue may affect you if you are using CDC Kafka *
    * 11.4.0.4-5599 or older with                                  *
    * KcopSingleRowAvroAuditHeadersIntegrated configured for       *

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * A Kafka schema registry will return an error when a *
    * subscription using KcopSingleRowAvroAuditHeadersIntegrated   *
    * is refreshed. It was due to several Journal Control Field *
    * (JCF) values not being sent during refresh, and the KCOP had *
    * incorrectly defined the default value in the Kafka schema. *
    * When CDC would attempt to write Kafka topic records with *
    * default values, the Kafka Schema Registry would return an *
    * error.                                                       *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    * Upgrade to IDR 11.4.0.4-5602 or newer for Kafka. *
    ****************************************************************

Problem conclusion

  • Upgrading to IDR 11.4.0.4-5602 or newer for Kafka resolves the
    issue.
