Error description

  • DB2 Connector configured to truncate the target table executes
a TRUNCATE TABLE statement first and in case of failure follows
up with the exeucution of ALTER TABLE and DELETE statements to
clea the table. Despite successful execution of the ALTER TABLE
or DELETE statements that follow the unsuccessful TRUNCATE
TABLE statement execution, the DB2 Connector incorrectly
reports a failure of the whole truncate table action and the
    job aborts.

Problem summary

  • DB2 Connector configured to truncate the target table executes a
TRUNCATE TABLE statement first and in case of failure follows
up with the exeucution of ALTER TABLE and DELETE statements to
clea the table. Despite successful execution of the ALTER TABLE
or DELETE statements that follow the unsuccessful TRUNCATE TABLE
statement execution, the DB2 Connector incorrectly reports a
failure of the whole truncate table action and the job aborts.

Problem conclusion

  • Fix the success or failure determination for the TRUNCATE -
ALTER - DELETE statement sequence execution

Temporary fix

  • Disable 'Fail on error' in the Generate truncate statement at
runtime section or disable truncate statement generation and
configure the working ALTER TABLE or DELETE statement manually
or grant the DB2 user permission to execute TRUNCATE TABLE
    statement on the target table.
