Error description

  • InfoSphere Data Replication for Oracle may not decrypt some of
    the transaction identification information from Begin/commit
    entries from the database logs when TDE is enabled.

    This will result in log reading and replication performance
    degredataion and some data not being replicated.
    Performance metrics will show # of open txns continually
    increasing while Log Read slows down.

    More evidence of this can be found by setting IIDR engine
    parameter  staging_store_dump_txn_queue_metadata=true,
    restarting the IIDR instance and then running the
    dmgetstagingstorestatus command. This will dump details from
    the transaction queues to the trace_dmts_* log file.
    Indicators of this are a high # of txns listed and often the
    slot and sequence values being very large and not corresponding
    to information seen from running oracle LOGMiner utility on the
    same file/scn range.

    * USERS AFFECTED:                                              *
    * This issue affects clients using CDC for Oracle as a source *
    * engine, where the Oracle database uses Oracle Transparent *
    * Data Encryption.                                             *

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * The CDC for Oracle replication engine was not detecting and *
    * decrypting certain begin/commit transaction log entries when *
    * TDE was enabled. As a result, the transactions did not *
    * replicate.                                                   *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    * Upgrade to IDR 11.4.0.2-5528 or newer. *
