APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • In ChangeMarketingSpotDefaultContentPartCmdImpl.performExecute()
the database records for default marketing content is first
updated, and then the cache is updated by requesting
invalidations through
MarketingEngineCache.removeMarketingSpotDefaultContent().
However, if dynacache (or DM_Cache) is disabled, then it results
 in NullPointerException and the changes are rolled back.

Local fix

  • Ensure that dynacache is enabled and restart the server.

Problem summary

  • USERS AFFECTED:
WebSphere Commerce V8 administrator who uses CMC.

PROBLEM ABSTRACT:
ChangeMarketingSpotDefaultContentPartCmdImpl.performExecute()
does not check if the cache is enabled

BUSINESS IMPACT:
Remove the default content from emarketing spot if the dynacache
 is disabled by the customer.

RECOMMENDATION:

Problem conclusion

  • Add the cacheEnabled check before calling cache invaliation.
