APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • If the Unix command of an Execute Command Activity died
unexpectedly receiving signal, downstream activity is triggered
    with the trigger set to

    Expression Type: OK - (Conditional)
    Expression: "Executed OK"

Local fix

  • Wrap the command in a shell script which traps the signal.

Problem summary

  • In a sequence job, there is no detection that an Execute Command
Activity script has been killed unless the script has a trap
command to alter the return code.

Problem conclusion

  • To allow detection that an Execute Command Activity script
without a trap command has been killed, the
DSE_CHILD_RETCODE_BEHAVIOR environment variable can be set to 1.
This will cause a return code to be assigned a value of 128 +
signal used (as is done at the UNIX level).
