Error description

  • When you assign the NaN or Infinity JavaScript value to an IBM
    Business Process Manager (BPM) variable of type Decimal that is
    marked as "Visible in Process Portal" in IBM Process Designer
    and IBM BPM tries to persist this variable in the database, you
    see the following exception in the log file:
    
    CWLLG0323E: An exception occurred in saveSearchableValues,
    reason:java.lang.NumberFormatException: Not a valid char

Local fix

Problem summary

  • The data type of the database column that holds searchable
    variable values of type Decimal cannot hold values that are not
    a number.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The limitation will be added the next time the documentation is
    refreshed.
