Error description
When you try to upload images that have a high-aspect ratio to a web file on the IBM Business Process Manager (BPM) server by using IBM Process Designer, you receive the following java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Argument not valid exception when uploading some images using managed file editor. This exception occurs, for example, when you create a web file by using an image and, from the Managed File editor, browse and upload a high-aspect ratio file, such as red_1x400.png. PRODUCTS AFFECTED: IBM Business Process Manager (BPM) Advanced IBM BPM Standard IBM BPM Express
Local fix
Do not stretch images too much before uploading them as managed files. For example, instead of uploading red_1x400.png upload 1x150.png or 3x400.png.
Problem summary
In Process Designer images with very large or very small aspect ratios cannot be scaled. Before IBM BPM V8.0.1, you see this exception when the width/height ratio or height/width ratio of the image is greater than 200. In IBM BPM V8.0.1 and later versions, you see this exception if the width/height ratio is greater than 200 or the height/width ratio is greater than 150.
Problem conclusion
A fix is available for IBM BPM V8.5.7 cumulative fix 2016.09 (http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg24042580) that corrects the scaling issue and allows you to use Process Designer to upload images that have high-aspect ratios. To determine whether the cumulative fix is available and download it if it is, complete the following steps on Fix Central: 1. On the Select product tab, select WebSphere as the product group, IBM Business Process Manager with your edition from the WebSphere options, All as the installed version, and All as the platform, and then click Continue. 2. In the Text field, enter "cumulative fix", and click Continue.
