Error description

• If you initially created a promotion without a description, and
  then you try to add a customer viewable description, you might
  encounter an error when you save the promotion.
  
  The following message will appear in the log:
  com.ibm.commerce.foundation.internal.common.exception.Foundation
  ApplicationException: The promotion description for promotion
  "10220011" is missing in the database for the following
  language: language ID "-24". You must recreate the description
  in that language.

Problem summary

• USERS AFFECTED:
  WebSphere Commerce Version 7 and Version 8 business users who
  use Management Center to create promotions.
  
  PROBLEM ABSTRACT:
  Error saving promotion in IBM Management Center for WebSphere
  Commerce Promotions tool
  
  BUSINESS IMPACT:
  Business users who use IBM Management Center for WebSphere
  Commerce to create new promotions may be unable to save the
  customer viewable description of new promotions.
  
  RECOMMENDATION:
  

Problem conclusion

• When the promotion is initially saved without specifying a
  customer viewable description, the promotion description object
  is marked as "creating".
  
  The transaction for the description object is then aborted
  because both the short and long customer viewable descriptions
  are false.
  
  If you then add a customer viewable description and click Save,
  the update service will be issued because the "creating" flag
  was not reset when the original transaction was aborted.
  
  However, the update will then fail because the object was not
  created due to the initial error.
  
  The problem has been fixed by ensuring that the "creating" flag
  is reset when the initial transaction is aborted.
