Error description

  • DataStage clients fail to authenticate on the engine tier in a
    Redhat PAM/LDAP/AD setup with:
    
    Failed to connect to Information Server Engine: host, project:
    UV.
    (User name and/or password incorrect. If credential mapping is
    used, check the credential mapped user name and password are
    correctly configured (80011))
    

Local fix

Problem summary

  • DataStage clients fail to connect with 80011 errors in a Redhat
    configuration involving PAM, LDAP, and Active Directory.  The
    username passed to the engine tier may be modified, and in mixed
    case or uppercase.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Set the DSE_DOWNCASE_USERNAME environment variable to 1 in
    $DSHOME/dsenv to enable PAM authentication with the lowercased
    username.
