APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When you run an exposed service from a URL and the service is
not already authenticated, such as through IBM Process Portal, a
login page loads for authentication. If the service
implementation contains a JavaScript step that contains a call
to tw.system.user_timeZone, the time zone returned shows an
incorrect time zone for the user.

Local fix

  • Set the ibm.bpm.timezoneOffset cookie in the calling application
with the appropriate time zone offset in minutes to UTC for the
    calling user.

Problem summary

  • The problem occurs because a cookie that transports the time
zone information of the calling user is not set when the service
is called outside an IBM BPM user interface. Therefore, trying
to use the time zone information in the called service
tw.system.user_timeZone does not provide the correct time zone
for the user. You might see the following message in the
    systemout.log file:

CWLLG0287W: Could not get 'timezone' for cookies

Problem conclusion

  • A fix is available for IBM BPM V8.5.5.0 that ensures the
    ibm.bpm.timezoneOffset cookie is set properly.
