APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Steps to reproduce:
1. connect the database through external sql tool( e.g. sql
developer), opened a table column and enter dummy data in two
lines(by hitting the "Enter" button), and saved.
2. When we verify the same data in SAP, the new line is shown
by "#" symbol(but actually it is new line character only).
3. when we started extraction, the data in Idoc  came split in
new lines, and which get failed during parse.

Local fix

  • Remove a new line in the Idoc document.

Problem summary

  • IDoc Extract Job fails on account of new line character received
 in IDoc Segment Data from SAP
CAUSE: Issues was only reproducing with specfic IDoc Data which
contains new line character

Problem conclusion

  • Implemented a code fix for handling new line characters received
 in IDoc Segments Data.
Fix available as patch for version 7.0
Note: it was determined the issue exists in the released 70 (GA)
version only. Version 7.1 G   and 8.0 GA contain a fix for the
issue (reference internal item 161219)
