APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• By default, the category-based relevancy feature is disabled and
  the checkJoinQueryCount flag is set to false in the
  wc-search.xml file. If both are enabled, 2 join queries are sent
  to Solr, which negatively affects performance and increases
  response time.
  Two queries are not needed for the category-based relevancy
  feature.

Problem summary

• USERS AFFECTED:
  WebSphere Commerce V7 users who set checkJoinQueryCount=true in
  the wc-search.xml file.
  
  PROBLEM ABSTRACT:
  Slow keyword search response time when you set
  checkJoinQueryCount=true
  
  BUSINESS IMPACT:
  Keyword search response time takes significantly longer when
  compared to search response time with the default
  'checkJoinQueryCount=false' option.
  
  RECOMMENDATION:
  

Problem conclusion

• In the in wc-search.xml file, removed the default
  checkJoinQueryCount option. The checkJoinQueryCount option is
  not needed.
