Error description

  • While debugging a business process definition (BPD), Process
Inspector in IBM Process Designer allows you to monitor values
of the variables. However, this feature does not work properly
when a coach is completed by clicking a select box or radio
    button. Instead, a SQLIntegrityConstraintViolationException
causes a TeamWorksException like the following exception:

    com.lombardisoftware.core.TeamWorksException: ORA-01400:
    cannot insert NULL into
    ("PCBPMDB"."LSW_STORED_SYMBOL_TABLE"."TASK_ID")
    This exception is wrapped into
    com.lombardisoftware.client.delegate.
     BusinessDelegateException:java.lang.RuntimeException: Could
     not evaluate expression
    at com.lombardisoftware.client.delegate.
      BusinessDelegateException.asBusinessDelegateException
      (BusinessDelegateException.java:46)
    at com.lombardisoftware.client.delegate.common.
      WebsphereDelegateHelper.doAs(WebsphereDelegateHelper.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • Process Designer creates services without an encompassing task
if the services are to be debugged. However, while navigating a
service, an attempt is made to write the non-existing task ID
into a database column where a null ID is not allowed.

Problem conclusion

  • A fix is/will be available for IBM BPM V8.5.5.0 that prevents
the task ID to be written into the database if there is no
    encompassing task.
