APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• SAP itself space trims strings to right when field values are
  passed via ABAP programs. The DS stage needs to do the same
  (recommend to make it the default behavior).
  Currently the strings are padded with spaced to the field
  length.
  

Local fix

• Use DS trim functions in a Transformer (functions TrimB or
  TrimLeadingTrailing, see

  ns.html).
  

Problem summary

• ABAP extract: Implement space trim to right for strings and make
   it default behavior in the next release.
  The SAP server itself trims trailing spaces from strings when
  field values are passed via ABAP programs. The ABAP stage needs
  to do the same (recommend to make it the default behavior).
  Currently the strings are padded with spaced to the field
  length.
  

Problem conclusion

• Trimming trailing spaces implemented as default behavior in
  version 80
  If any user needs this functionality for version 70 or 71 it can
  be implemented on request, as an environment variable enabled
  functionality (we cannot change the default behavior in a
  maintenance release).
  The user does have the option of using instead the Datastage
  Transformer trim functions (e.g. TrimB or TrimLeadingTrailing)
