Error description
A General System service accesses exposed process values (EPVs) that are defined for the tip. If the General System service is replayed from the process designer, the EPVs are retrieved correctly. If the General System service is invoked by the REST API, it retrieves null values when it tries to access the EPVs, even if the invocation specifies the branchID to start the tip.
Local fix
Problem summary
This problem occurs only if the tip snapshot is a named snapshot. That is, immediately after a snapshot has been defined or immediately after a new snapshot has been imported. In this case, the IBM BPM REST API does not recognize that the General System service should be run in the context of the tip but runs it in the context of the named snapshot. Because the EPVs are defined for the tip, the General System service cannot retrieve them.
Problem conclusion
A fix will be included in an IBM BPM V8.5.6.0 cumulative fix that modifies the REST API so it can determine whether the service should be run in the context of the tip or in the context of the named snapshot.
