When you install an IBM Business Process Manager (BPM) interim fix that requires the configuration data in the profile to be updated, you must run the BPMConfig -upgrade command manually as described in ? Profile update instructions for IBM Business Process Manager (BPM) 8.5.x interim fixes? ( http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21637449). Also, when you install an IBM BPM interim fix that requires the IBM BPM toolkits to be updated, you must run the BPMUpdateSystemApp command manually as described in ?BPMUpdateSystemApp command? (http://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSFTN5_8.5.0/com.ibm .wbpm.ref.doc/topics/rref_bpmupdatesystemapp.html). Problem summary
Upgrading the IBM BPM profile for interim fixes was not automated because it would have been triggered the first time the server starts for each interim fix that affects the configuration. As a result, starting the server for the first time after installing interim fixes would have taken a long time.
Problem conclusion
A fix is available for IBM BPM V8.5.0.1 that ensures the IBM BPM profile is upgraded only once, no matter how many interim fixes have been installed, which allows upgrading the IBM BPM profile for interim fixes to be automated as part of the first time the server starts like it is for IBM BPM refresh packs and fix packs. This fix also automatically updates the IBM BPM toolkits the first time the deployment manager (IBM BPM Standard and IBM BPM Advanced) or the stand-alone server (IBM BPM Express) starts. Important: Interim fix JR53069 only enables upgrade automation. When fixes require that profiles or toolkits be upgraded, those fixes must include an action to trigger the automated upgrade. Otherwise, the upgrade remains manual. On Fix Central (http://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral), search for JR53069: 1. Select IBM Business Process Manager with your edition from the product selector, the installed version to the fix pack level, and your platform, and then click Continue. 2. Select APAR or SPR, enter JR53069, and click Continue. When you download fix packages, ensure that you also download the readme file for each fix. Review each readme file for additional installation instructions and information about the fix.
