• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The UpdateDB utility fails when it is about to open the log file
  if the specified output directory does not yet exist.  Error
  text similar to the following will appear in the console:
  
  BUILD FAILED
  WEBSPH~1\COMMER~1\COMPON~1\Fixpack\xml\CONFIG~1.XML:40:
  Problems opening file using a recorder entry
  

Local fix

• Pre-create the log file directory if it does not aleady exist.
  

Problem summary

• USERS AFFECTED:
  IT administrators who are running the stand-alone updatedb
  utility, who are installing a fixpack or who are creating a new
  instance.
  
  PROBLEM ABSTRACT:
  The updateDB utility fails when the output log directory does
  not yet exist.
  
  BUSINESS IMPACT:
  The environment won't be upgraded to the intended fixpack level.
  
  RECOMMENDATION:
  

Problem conclusion

• Before creating the file, updateDB utility will first check if
  the log file directory exists. If it does not already exist it
  will be created.
