Error description

  • When you log into IBM Process Portal or switch to the Work tab
    view, you might see the following exception in the log files:
    
    java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Invalid channel
    id:/bpm/notifications//PzkU85ktY91DPm1+kbFLUfmT/+sSoO4MwHHqNWxv3
    4=(2581)
    
    The error is benign and has no functional impact.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • A group name that has a slash (/) as a header character or
    slashes (//) anywhere else in the group name (perhaps created
    automatically in ad-hoc group names) causes an invalid channel
    exception.
    

Problem conclusion

  • A fix for IBM BPM V8.5.5.0 is available that removes the slashes
     from the group name when subscribing to the channel, thereby
    preventing the exception.
    
    On Fix Central (http://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral), search
    for JR52053:
    
     1. Select IBM Business Process Manager with your edition from
    the product selector, the installed version to the fix pack
    level, and your platform, and then click Continue.
     2. Select APAR or SPR, enter JR52053, and click Continue.
    
    When you download fix packages, ensure that you also download
    the readme file for each fix. Review each readme file for
    additional installation instructions and information about the
    fix.
