JR51883: WSDL DISCOVERY DOES NOT PREEMPTIVELY SEND CONFIGURED AUTHENTICATION CREDENTIALS

Error description

  • The WSDL discovery function in IBM Process Designer does not
preemptively send the configured basic authentication
credentials but waits for the authentication challenge from the
web service and then sends the credentials in a second request.
As a result, the WSDL discovery function might fail in certain
    scenarios.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • The WSDL discovery function uses an HTTP client to reach out to
the URL, providing a WSDL file. This HTTP client does not use
preemptive authentication but rather attempts a call without
having credentials, which, according to the HTTP protocol,
results in an HTTP 401 response. According to the HTTP protocol,
the HTTP client then retry the same call, this time with the
credentials. While this works fine in most scenarios, there are
certain environments where the credentials must be sent with
    the first request.

Problem conclusion

  • A fix is available for IBM BPM V8.0.1.3 that enables the
preemptive authentication in WSDL discovery scenarios so that
credentials are sent with the first HTTP request when they are
available, rather than waiting for the authentication challenge
    before sending the credentials.
