APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • From the Server Side tracing:

    C:\IBM\InformationServer\Server\DSEngine/catdir/$DS.ORSetLogFile
Name is not a DataStage/BASIC object file.
Program "DSR_CHECKORLOGGING": Line 78, Unable to load file
    "$DS.ORSetLogFileName". Program "DSR_CHECKORLOGGING": Line 78,
    Unable to load subroutine.

Local fix

  • From the Server Side tracing in previous case:

    C:\IBM\InformationServer\Server\DSEngine/catdir/$DS.ORSetLogFile
Name is not a DataStage/BASIC object file.
Program "DSR_CHECKORLOGGING": Line 78, Unable to load file
    "$DS.ORSetLogFileName". Program "DSR_CHECKORLOGGING": Line 78,
    Unable to load subroutine.

PROBLEM SOLUTION was to manually catalog mentioned routine.

    cd c:\IBM\InformationServer\Server\DSEngine .\bin\uvsh.exe .
    >LOGTO UV
    >CATALOG.GCI $DS.ORSetLogFileName

Problem summary

  • Intermittent failures can be reported when opening entries in
the catdir directory of DSEngine (especially on the Windows
    platform). In server side traces,
the following types of messages are seen (where $DSP.Open may be
    a different catalog'd routine):

    C:\IBM\InformationServer\Server\DSEngine/catdir/$DSP.Open is not
    a DataStage/BASIC object files.
Program "DSP.Open": Line 122, Unable to load file "$DSP.Open".
Program "DSP.Open": Line 122, Unable to load subroutine.

Problem conclusion

  • Fix code which reads the header of a catalog'd routine. Also
provide a mechanism for preventing increment of reference count
in catalog header setting the environment variable,
    DSE_CATALOG_LOCKING_BYPASS, to 1.

Temporary fix

  • Re-catalog the routine with CATALOG.GCI.
