JR51538: FREQUENT COMETD POLLING WHEN MULTIPLE TABS OPEN IN THE SAME BROWSER

Error description

  • If you have IBM Process Portal open in multiple tabs in the same
    browser (same user in each tab), in one tab CometD tries to
    reconnect every two seconds. If it reconnects successfully,
    CometD changes to the regular 30-second polling for this tab
    and, for the other tabs, CometD starts trying to reconnect every
     two seconds.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • Because the multiSessionInterval property is not defined and
    configured to 30 seconds, it defaults to 2 seconds when Process
    Portal is open in multiple tabs in the same browser window,
    resulting in very frequent attempts at long polling.
    

Problem conclusion

  • A fix for IBM BPM V8.5.0.0, V8.5.0.1 and V8.5.5.0 is available
    that introduces the multiSessionInterval property
    and sets it to 30 seconds.
    
    On Fix Central (http://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral), search
    for JR51538:
    
     1. Select IBM Business Process Manager with your edition from
    the product selector, the installed version to the fix pack
    level, and your platform, and then click Continue.
     2. Select APAR or SPR, enter JR51538, and click Continue.
    
    When you download fix packages, ensure that you also download
    the readme file for each fix. Review each readme file for
    additional installation instructions and information about the
    fix.
