Error description
When you try to view a process instance diagram in IBM Process Portal, the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) in the IBM Business Process Manager (BPM) server that is responsible for retrieving the diagram (stand-alone server JVM or AppTarget cluster JVM) might encounter a hung thread and high heap memory use (and possibly, an OutOfMemory error). As a result, rendering the diagram might be slow. This issue is more likely if there is a high number of process instances on the server. Problem summary
The logic for determining whether you are authorized to view the diagram for the process instance is inefficient, retrieving all process instances which you are authorized to view (by using a database query) as an intermediate step. If you are authorized to view a large number of process instances, this might use a large amount of memory and cost excessive time by the thread (making it at least appear to be hung).
Problem conclusion
A fix for IBM BPM V7.5.1.0 and V7.5.1.2 is available that improves the efficiency of the instance authorization logic, eliminating the retrieval of all process instances you are authorized to view. On Fix Central (http://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral), search for JR51294: 1. Select IBM Business Process Manager with your edition from the product selector, the installed version to the fix pack level, and your platform, and then click Continue. 2. Select APAR or SPR, enter JR51294, and click Continue. When you download fix packages, ensure that you also download the readme file for each fix. Review each readme file for additional installation instructions and information about the fix.
