JR51276: Pressing Back on the Checkout pages can cause blank entries in P PCEXTDATA and 0 amount

APAR status

Error description

  • Scenario 1 - able to checkout with amount 0
    Steps to reproduce it:
    1) Place any item in cart
    2) Go all the way to the Shipping & Billing page in the
    check-out flow, select a payment type and hit the next button to
     go to the order summary page
    3) Go back and change the payment type to something else
    4) Hit the back button OF THE BROWSER NOW
    5) Amount is now displayed as $0.00
    
    In step 3,  it will also trigger WCS to create a new temporary
    PI (named as unbound PI) with nothing stored in PPCEXTDATA,
    then click back button on the browser, both problems occur:
     1> the amount changes to zero
     2> the PI has no extended data
    
    Scenario 2 - checkout properly, but in fact the PI in the
    database is all empty
    1.- Login store
    2.- Add a product to the shopping cart.
    3.- Then, go to the Shopping Cart page and click on Checkout.
    4.- Then, go to the Shipping & Billing Method page and select a
    billing method. Finally click on Back.
    5.- Then, go to the Shopping Cart page click on Checkout
    6.- Then, go to the Shipping & Billing Method page click on Next
    7.- then, view the Order Summary page.
    8.- Select in the table PPCEXTDATA, payment data is not saved,
    this is wrong.

Problem conclusion

  • Modify checkout logic to identify unbound PI that are added to
    the order for triggering payment type promotion calculations,
    and flag these PI as re-add so that the checkout will remove and
    add the PI properly.
