Problem summary
ABSTRACT ? TRYING TO START A BPD FROM THE TIP GETS REJECTED AND YOU SEE A SNAPSHOT IS INACTIVE ERROR ERROR DESCRIPTION - When you try to deploy a new snapshot to IBM Process Center and start a BPD from the process application's tip by using the startProcessByName() Javascript API, the deployment fails with following exception: com.lombardisoftware.core.TeamWorksException: Cannot start because the snapshot is not active or the tip PRODUCTS AFFECTED IBM Business Process Manager (BPM) Advanced IBM BPM Standard IBM BPM Express LOCAL FIX - After you import a .twx file, open the process application in IBM Process Designer and make a simple change to anything and save. This action creates an unnamed snapshot for thetip and the error does not recur after you deploy the snapshot. PROBLEM SUMMARY When you start a BPD by using the startProcessByName() Javascript API immediately after you import the process application into Process Center, you see the following error: CWLLG2015E: An unexpected runtime exception occurred. See exception for more details. Error: Wrapped com.lombardisoftware.core.TeamWorksException: Cannot start because the snapshot is not active or the tip. org.mozilla.javascript.WrappedException: Wrapped com.lombardisoftware.core.TeamWorksException: Cannot start because the snapshot is not active or the tip. This issue occurs only if the process is started immediately after the process application is imported. At that moment, the latest named snapshot and tip version are identical. Also, by default the snapshot is imported as nonactive. The server interprets this as a nonactive named snapshot and not a tip, making the tip inaccesible by any users.
Problem conclusion
A fix is available for IBM BPM V8.5.0.1 that properly identifies the tip version when the process is started immediately after the process application is imported. On Fix Central (http://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral), search for JR50802: 1.Select IBM Business Process Manager with your edition from the product selector, the installed version to the fix pack level, and your platform, and then click Continue. 2.Select APAR or SPR, enter JR50802, and click Continue. When you download fix packages, ensure that you also download the readme file for each fix. Review each readme file for additional installation instructions and information about the fix.
Temporary fix
After importing a TWX , open the Process Application in Process Designer and make a simple change to anything and save. This will create a new unnamed snapshot for the TIP and the error cannot be reproduced after.
