JR50805: AFTER APPLYING APAR JR48172 UNIX SHELL SCRIPTS FOR USER AND GROUP SYNCHRONIZATION DON'T RUN SUCCESSFULLY

APAR status

Error description

  • After you apply APAR JR48172 in IBM Business Process
    Manager(BPM) V8.0.1.1 or IBM BPM V8.0.1.2, the Unix shell
    scripts for user and group synchronization, usersFullSync.sh and
    usersSync.sh, do not run successfully. They stop with an usage
    error.
    
    For IBM BPM V8.0.1.2 the Unix shell scripts for group
    synchronization, groupMembershipFullUpdate.sh,
    groupMembershipUpdate.sh, syncGroupMembershipForAllGroups.sh,
    and syncGroupMembershipForGroups.sh, do not run successfully and
    stop with an usage error too.
    
    Additionally for IBM BPM V8.0.1.2, when two or more users work
    on the same business process definition (BPD) at the same time,
    "Unknown user" is shown in the IBM Process Designer status line
    at the bottom of the window for each user who is working on the
    BPD.
    

Local fix

Problem summary

  • The Unix shell scripts for group synchronization contain CR/LF
    (CarriageReturn / Linefeed) instead of LF (Linefeed). Also, the
    Unix shell scripts for user synchronization cannot find the
    mandatory parameter USER_INSTALL_ROOT. These issues cause the
    shell scripts to fail with a usage error.
    
    Because APAR JR48172, which is a prerequisite for APAR JR48507,
    contains a wrong fix part for Process Designer, some processing
    in Process Designer fails with an exception and you see the
    "Unknown user" message.
    

Problem conclusion

  • A fix is available for IBM BPM V8.0.1.2 and IBM BPM V8.0.1.1
    that replaces the CR/LF in the Unix shell scripts with one LF
    and adds the missing parameter USER_INSTALL_ROOT to the
    command-line processing in the shell scripts.
    
    The correct fix part for APAR JR48172 is packaged with this APAR
    for BPM V8.0.1.2.
    
    On Fix Central (http://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral), search
    for JR50805:
    
    1. Select IBM Business Process Manager with your edition from
      the product selector, the installed version to the fix pack
      level, and your platform, and then click Continue.
    
    2. Select APAR or SPR, enter JR50805, and click Continue.
    
    When you download fix packages, ensure that you also download
    the readme file for each fix. Review each readme file for
    additional installation instructions and information about the
    fix.
