  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Error messages in heritage coaches default to English if no
locale is set for the user preference. IBM Process Portal and
other parts of coaches display the proper languages, according
to the browser locale settings. However, validation for business
object types does not use the same logic as Process Portal or
other parts of coaches and, so, defaults to English.

Local fix

  • Workaround: Set your locale attribute under Bulk attribute
assignment in the Process Admin Console. Alternatively, set the
language setting in the Process Portal preference page.

Problem summary

  • User input fields in a heritage coach that are bound to a
specific system type return error messages in English if the
locale is not set in your preference settings. The system error
messages default to English if no user locale is set.

Problem conclusion

  • A fix is available for IBM BPM v8.0.1.1 that
checks for a proper locale before defaulting to English. If the
locale attribute is not set in the
preferences, the code looks up the JVM locale and use that
locale. If the JVM does not have a proper
locale setting, English will be used.
