APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When you use a web service integration module and the SOAP
    response contains a mixture of wrapped and non-wrapped lists,
    then the elements in the wrapped list are incorrectly assumed
    to be child elements within the wrapped list and therefore
    might be missing from the response business object.

Local fix

  • set <serializer-exclude-incomplete-element> in the
    configuration files to false may temporarily work, but can
    cause other advserse effects

    In a SOAP response body such as the following example, the
    elements in Array2 are assumed to be part of Array1 and are
    ignored, causing them to be missing from the business object
    that is mapped to Array2:
    <OperationResponse>
    <Array1>1</Array1>
    <Array1>2</Array1>
    <Array1>3</Array1>
    <Array2>
     &#163;&#226;&#130;&#172;&#226;&#130;&#172; &#163;&#226;&#130;&#172;&#226;&#130;&#172; &#163;&#226;&#130;&#172;&#226;&#130;&#172;<item>1</item>
     &#163;&#226;&#130;&#172;&#226;&#130;&#172; &#163;&#226;&#130;&#172;&#226;&#130;&#172; &#163;&#226;&#130;&#172;&#226;&#130;&#172;<item>2</item>
    </Array2>
    </OperationResponse>After Array1 parsing has been completed,
    the parser is not reset to be ready to parse a wrapped list,
    so when Array2 is parsed, all the elements under Array2 are
    ignored.

Problem conclusion

  • A fix is available for IBM Business Process Manager V8.0.1.2,
    so that the parser will reset correctly, which fixes the SOAP
    message parser issue in Web service integration.
