JR49536: DSIDOCCLN PACK FOR APPLICATIONS V7 IS DELETING IDOCS WITHIN TIMELIMIT

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When running dsidoccln v7 from command line idocs created wtih
  v6.5 Idoc stage are being deleted that are within the timelimit
  specified. IDocs created with v7 are being processed
  successfully.
  For example: dsidoccln TIMELIMIT=5
  The following error(s) is seen:
  No bookmark files found in directory:
  /opt/IBM/InformationServer/Server/DSSAPConnectio
  ns/<Connection>/IDocTypes/<IDoc>
  

Local fix

• Manually cleanup IDocs.
  

Problem summary

• IDOC Cleanup Tool (dsidoccln) in V7 does not account for the
  coexistence scenario with v6, it will only look for v7
  bookmarks. Thus if a customer also used the v6 stage, the IDOCs
  received may get deleted before the v6 stage has a chance to
  read them.
  

Problem conclusion

•   There were a few issues with the implementation, which were
  fixed:
    - the timestamp was not correctly read from the v7 bookmark
  files (.ibk)
    - the tool was only reading the v7 bookmark files (.ibk) and
  not the v6 bookmark file (.bmk), so in the co-existance
      scenario (both old v6 IDOC stage and the new v7 IDOC
  Connector stage) the behavior was not correct
    - IDOCs older than TIMELIMIT were deleted regardless of job
  processed status
    - if all jobs were inactive, the tool would only
  delete/archive IDOCs older than the oldest run. After the fix,
  if
      all jobs are inactive, all IDOCs older than the most recent
  run are deleted/archived (as documented)
  
    The behavior was corrected under this APAR. The tool will now
  look at both the v7 and v6 bookmark files and use the
    oldest timestamp of the two when deciding what files to
  delete/archive.
