JR49478: ISSUES WITH LOCALES IN IBM PROCESS PORTAL (LOCALE FALLBACK AND HANDLING OF PORTUGUESE AS CONFIGURED LOCALE)

Error description

  • The following issues with handling of locale settings in IBM
    Process Portal exist:
    
    (1) If no locale is configured in your user profile, Process
    Portal (with the exception of Coaches, which by design always
    fall back to English if no locale is configured in a user
    profile) will use the browser locale.  If the browser locale
    contains a language and country (for example, Spanish (Mexico),
    and that specific locale is not supported, Process Portal should
    fall back to the base language (for example, Spanish) if that
    language is supported; however, it falls back to English
    instead.
    
    (2) If the locale Portuguese is configured in your user profile,
    Process Portal might fall back to English.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • Process Portal only performs "exact matches" of the locale from
    the browser to the list of supported locales, when no locale is
    configured in the user profile.  Additionally, when Portuguese
    is configured as the locale in the user profile, the IBM BPM
    representation "pt" does not match what Dojo expects as the
    representation, which is "pt-pt".
    

Problem conclusion

  • A fix is available for IBM BPM V8.0.1.2 and V8.5.0.1 that
    matches the base language to a supported locale if the
    country-specific locale is not supported. Also, the fix
    represents Portuguese as "pt-pt" as expected by Dojo.
    
    On Fix Central (http://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral), for IBM
    BPM V8.0.1.2, search for JR49846 (fix for APAR JR49478 is
    included in the JR49846 fix); for V8.5.0.1, search for JR49478:
    
    1. Select IBM Business Process Manager with your edition from
    the product selector, the installed version to the fix pack
    level, and your platform, and then click Continue.
    2. Select APAR or SPR, enter JR49846 (for V8.0.1.2) or JR49478
    (for V8.5.0.1), and click Continue.
    
    When you download fix packages, ensure that you also download
    the readme file for each fix. Review each readme file for
    additional installation instructions and information about the
    fix.
