JR49136: REQUEST TO FULLY SUPPORT THE "IN" OPERATOR WITHIN SQL BUILDER (ABAP STAGE)

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• an enhancement to fully support the "IN" operator
  (which is available within the sql builder as a drop-down
  option).
  Instead of what it currently does, which is incorrectly
  proposing
  ?PARAMETERS? instead of ?SELECT-OPTIONS?.
  

Local fix

• 1)      Use SAP-provided variants, and
  
  2)      Edit the generated ABAP program manually to change the
  word
  ?PARAMETERS? to ?SELECT-OPTIONS? and the word ?LIKE? to ?FOR?
  wherever
  the ?IN? operator was selected.
  

Problem summary

• The ABAP code generator in the ABAP Stage GUI may create
  erroneous code when using the SQL Query generation method.
  This may happen when the SQL query contains a WHERE clause and
  this contains an IN condition.
  The symptom is an error message "The IN operator with "PARAM_x
  is followed ..." showing the WHERE clause that contains the IN
  condition.
  

Problem conclusion

• Code fix: Corrected the internal ABAP build logic. After
  installing the fix the ABAP code generator creates valid ABAP
  code also when using an IN condition.
  The issue was fixed in versions 7x and 65x for SQL Builder
  (Extraction Object is not affected), data transfer methods RFC
  and FTP. CPIC is only supported in v65x and was not corrected
  due to complex internal logic and deprecation.
