Error description
In Process Portal, when creating or opening a task that initiates loading of a coach, if a REST request timeout occurs, the text "Loading..." is displayed on a blank screen (until the user refreshes the browser or navigates elsewhere in Process Portal). (For BPM Version 8.0.1.2 and Version 8.5.0.1, the timeout is 30 seconds; for earlier versions, the timeout is 20 seconds.) When a timeout occurs, a dialog displaying the message "The service is not currently available." should be displayed, after which the task completion user interface should close when the user clicks the OK button on the dialog. Note that in the case of task creation, the task is correctly created and the user can work with the task (provided another REST request timeout does not occur during coach loading).

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IBM Business Process Manager V8.0.1.1 and * * V8.0.1.2 Advanced, Standard, and Express * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: In Process Portal, when creating or * * opening a task that initiates loading * * of a coach, if a REST request timeout * * occurs, the text "Loading..." is * * displayed on a blank screen (until the * * user refreshes the browser or * * navigates elsewhere in Process * * Portal). * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When a user selects a task on the Work tab to work on the task, several REST calls occur before the coach is opened, including calls which determine the actions to which the user is entitled. The error handler for these REST calls was accessing the status code of the response without checking to determine whether a timeout occurred. This is important because the timeout is triggered on the client side and therefore no proper response with status code is available.
Problem conclusion
A fix is available that ensures that the error handler for the REST calls does not access the status code of the response before checking that a timeout occurred; if a timeout is detected, the fix displays an informative error message instead of the text "Loading..." (indefinitely). For versions other than V8.5.0.1, on Fix Central (http://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral), search for JR48896. 1.
